SPEAKERS BUREAU E-NEWSLETTER: WEEK 5

Last week we passed the “200 mark” By the end of the day on Friday, 83 speakers representing 34 United Way agencies had collectively given 205 campaign presentations. The campaign will continue into January. And although the majority of speaker presentations have already been scheduled (and most are already completed), requests for speakers continue so you may be asked to speak again in the coming weeks.

We’re very grateful for the time you’ve given to prepare and deliver your speeches. We especially appreciate the good humor and eagerness you showed when we asked you to give your time to speak on our behalf.

This week, we’d like to recognize the following speakers for going above and beyond the call of duty:

Flexibility. Thanks to Christy LeClair, who shifted her time commitment as needed when Lockheed rescheduled a meeting, and to Richard Pratt of Transitional Living Services who took a speaking engagement with very little notice.

Response. We appreciate those of you who responded to our Monday request to fill a last-minute spot at Lockheed. The privilege to speak went to Mark Clary from Catholic Charities of Onondaga County, who responded with lightning speed.

Large groups. All groups offer a challenge, but speaking before a large group does take a special knack. Thanks to Nancy Kronen from Salvation Army, Oscar Vergara from P.E.A.C.E. and Sharon Jack-Williams from Dunbar Association, who have all agreed to speak to large groups recently.

Forbearance. Judi Torres was incorrectly identified by agency, which should have read Syracuse Jewish Family Service, Inc. Please accept our apology Judi!

A Note about Surveys Your comments on surveys do affect the way we do our work If you have not completed a survey for a meeting you attended, please take the time to do so. If you have lost the link to your survey or have any questions, contact Rosey Oaks-Lee at sbureau@unitedway-cny.org or 428-2210.
