His arrival marked the climax of United Way’s
Walk the Talk event, which brought together leaders
from business, government and non-profits in a
public show support for their community.
Mr. McCormick started his journey at the Anheuser-Busch
brewery in Baldwinsville and made the 13-mile run
in about two hours. He was joined during the trip
by Doug Luke, representative of Teamsters Local 1139,
and together they crossed the finish line with a
check made out to United Way in the amount of $120,049.
After taking just a few seconds to catch his breath,
Mr. McCormick thanked the assembly and announced
United Way’s mid-campaign total of $5,676,627.
This amount is well ahead of the pace of last year’s
campaign, but United Way still needs to raise $3,823,473
to reach its goal of $9.5 million.
Next week we will bring you photos and details of
the inventive good spirit that was brought to this
event by over 50 leading executives and their teams.
