Happy Holidays
From all of
us here at United Way of Central New York, we’d like
to wish you and yours a safe, happy and festive holiday
season. We are grateful to be able to partner with you
to build a better community.
Thank you for everything that you do on our
behalf, and best wishes for the New Year. |

Friday, December 14, was the deadline
for requests for our 2008-2011 Community Program
Fund. Forty-five agencies submitted 132 applications
for a total of $9,528,283 in requests. It was an
exciting day for United Way as the boxes of applications
came in and we were joined by the executive directors
of the agencies to make an end-of-campaign appeal
to the community for support.
Over the coming months, teams
of trained volunteers will spend hundreds of hours
reviewing these applications. They’ll select a slate of the very best programs
to recommend for funding to United Way’s Board
of Directors. In the spring, the Board will make
final decisions and the next three-year funding cycle
will begin in July.
The success of the current Community
Campaign will determine how much money is available
to allocate to programs for the next three years,
so it’s
extremely important that we reach our $9.7 million
goal. Thanks so much for helping to make the campaign
a success. |

We are still looking for volunteers
to review program applications for funding in the
2008-2011 Community Program Fund. This is very rewarding
and interesting work, and it’s a great opportunity
to learn more about your community. Trainings start
in January.
For more information or to sign up,
please call or email Rosy
George in United Way’s Community Impact Department
at

To date, United Way of Central New
York’s Community Campaign has raised $7,196,124.
A big thanks to everyone who has made this achievement
possible!

In January we will celebrate all that
we’ve accomplished together this year. Please
mark your calendar now for the 2007 Achievement Celebration
on Thursday, January 24, from 5 to 7 at the Oncenter. Join
us as we recognize exceptional organizations and campaign
volunteers. This will also be the grand finale for
the 2007
Step Up Challenge. Prizewinner names will
be drawn for each of our six grand prizes.
And thanks to the generous
sponsorship of KS&R, this year’s
event will be free of charge. Bring a friend or your
whole campaign team for complimentary hors d’oeuvres
and a cash bar. Please watch your mailbox for your
invitation in early January. |
