MISSION Have a mission
that is in concert with the mission and operating values of United
Way; the agency’s
mission must be primarily focused on the direct provision of
human services to benefit the residents of Onondaga County.
COMPLIANCE
Comply with applicable Federal and
New York State nondiscrimination laws.
BOARD
Be under the control
of an active, local volunteer board which is organized and functions
to provide policy and management accountability. If the
agency is the local affiliate of a statewide or national organization
directed by a governing board, the local agency must have its
own governing body, advisory board or council (which will be
deemed its board).
ADMINISTRATION Have a staff person or volunteer designated by the agency’s
Board of Directors to be responsible for agency administration
and program management.
CHARACTER AND COMPETENCE Demonstrate the character and competence, including the appropriate
personnel, to deliver effective and efficient programming.
FISCAL
ACCOUNTABILITY Provide evidence of fiscal accountability and
general fiscal health, including a board-approved current year
operating budget, and the most recent copy (within 2 years) of
the agency’s independent audited financial statements
prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
