United Way of Central New York celebrates the spirit of our community through a number of annual special events. This section provides more information on upcoming events. Please check back often, as our events section is updated frequently.
On April 20, United Way of Central New York held our annual Achievements in Caring event at the Oncenter in Syracuse. With over 300 people in attendance we celebrated the community’s generosity and honored the outstanding achievements of corporations and individuals in the community.
We also announced a 2009-2010 Community Campaign fundraising total of $7,864,762. “We are extremely proud of and grateful for the extra effort the community put in to raise this money in the extremely difficult economy of the past year,” said United Way President Frank Lazarski.
In addition to the campaign total announcement, we presented our highest organizational honors, the six Spirit of Caring Awards and bestowed our highest individual honor, the Campaign Volunteer of the Year Award to Christine Chiesa from Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC. In addition, we honored a local volunteer, Grace Howe with the Exceptional Community Volunteer Award.
