APPLICATION
PROCESS
Phase 1: Agency Fiscal & Management Assessment
United Way is responsible to provide stewardship of community
resources, ensuring that these resources go only to well-run
agencies and effective programs. The Agency Fiscal & Management
Assessment is the first step in this stewardship process. All
minimum fiscal and management standards must be met in order
to be eligible to apply for United Way program funding.
Phase 1 begins with the Fiscal & Management Review Team,
a select group of knowledgeable community volunteers, who thoroughly
review all applications to determine each agency’s operational
stability. The Fiscal & Management Review Team’s work
culminates with a slate of agencies recommended to be eligible
for Phase 2. These recommendations will be considered
by United Way’s Community Impact Cabinet. The Community
Impact Cabinet will develop the final recommendations that will
be submitted to United Way’s Board of Directors. The Board
will make the final decision about which agencies will be invited
to apply for program funding.
DATES:
- The Agency Fiscal & Management Assessment is due
to be received at United Way’s offices by 4:00 p.m.
on Friday, August 24, 2007. No late submissions will
be accepted.
- United Way’s Board of Directors will make final
decisions by Wednesday, October 31, 2007.
Phase 2: Program Assessment
United Way seeks to fund effective programs that demonstrate
a capacity to produce desired outcomes in any one of our five
Vision Areas. The Program Assessment will provide information
on the community condition to be addressed, agency capacity
to deliver the program, and the program structure, performance,
and budget.
Five Program Review Teams will be formed to assess applications
in each of the Vision Areas. Program Review Team volunteers will
review program funding applications and each team will develop
a slate of funding recommendations for its Vision Area. These
recommendations will be forwarded to the Community Impact Cabinet
who will analyze the recommendations and develop a combined slate
of final program funding recommendations for all Vision Areas.
These combined recommendations will be submitted for consideration
by the United Way Board of Directors. The Board will make final
decisions on program funding.
DATES:
- Program Assessments are due at United Way’s offices
by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 14, 2007. No late
submissions will be accepted.
The Board of Directors has the ultimate responsibility for
making funding decisions. Agencies can expect to be notified
of their program funding status no later than Friday, May 30, 2008. |
