The Capacity Building Fund will allow United
Way to be more responsive to the skill-building needs of local
not-for-profits
by offering flexible funding opportunities. Proposals for Capacity
Building Fund funding may include:
- Planning
- Change Management, Environmental Analysis, Marketing
- Board/Staff
Relations
- CEO’s Role, Organizational
Leadership
- Financial Management, Budgeting, Cost Control
and Containment
- Resource Development Planning, Assessment
of Current Resource Development Potential, Developing Funding
Proposals
- Organizational Assessment,
Information Management – Computers
- Organizational Structure,
Personnel Policies and Procedures, Volunteer Issues, Salaries/Compensation
- Legal Issues
- Work Force Sensitivity
- Cultural Diversity
- Agency Efficiency and Evaluation
- Collaborations
- Best Practice
Requirements
The Capacity Building Fund will consider proposals from:
- Established
501(c)(3) human service agencies serving clients in the Onondaga
County area.
- Grants will be awarded only for consulting services requests.
- Consulting Services Grant range is $1,500 - $20,000 per
grant
- Check grant application for due date
Funding
Project grants will be made as a one-time commitment. Successful
candidates are prohibited from applying for additional funding
within the award year. Candidates unable to receive
funding may apply no more than two times within the same year.
Applicants may be asked to submit additional fiscal & management
information. Agencies currently receiving United Way funds do
NOT need to resubmit their tax-exempt status or audit and management
letter, provided the most current information is on file.
- IRS 501(c)(3) status;
- IRS Form 990;
- Roster of the Board of Directors;
- Audit and management letter
when available;
- Current year’s
agency operating budget, balance sheet, and year-to-date
income and expense statements.
APPLICATION FORMS
Applicants should submit ten complete copies of all application
materials. Additional information may be requested during the
application review to facilitate United Way’s volunteer
decision-making process.
