EITC program kicks off at Shoppingtown Mall

Volunteers from across Onondaga County came together Friday morning as P.E.A.C.E., Inc. kicked off its annual EITC program. From mid-January until mid-April, P.E.A.C.E., Inc. has several convenient locations across Onondaga County for individuals who make less than $49,000 to have their taxes prepared for free.  

In addition to providing a free tax service, the EITC program promotes financial stability and economic self-sufficiency by working to put money in the hands of individuals, providing financial education in an effort to help improve credit scores and encouraging investments in long term assets such as home and schooling.

Last year 2,576 tax returns were filed in Central New York through the EITC program, resulting in over $5 million in federal refunds. So far this year over $1 million in returns have come back into the hands of hardworking Central New Yorkers.
