United Way wraps up its campaign efforts each year at the Community Achievement Celebration. This event honors all the good work our community has done throughout the year with a series of awards. The Spirit of Caring Awards, United Way's top corporate honors, are given to six deserving companies. The Campaign Volunteer of the Year award – the highest honor given to an individual United Way volunteer – goes to an ECC who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Learn more about the awards your company could win, and meet last year's winners.
2011 ACHIEVEMENTS IN CARING EVENT
Thank you!
The 2010 Community Campaign raised $7,810,892 – about 95 percent of our goal. We are humbled and grateful for the extra effort and generosity this year. Thank you for all that you do for this community.
Achievements in Caring
On Wednesday April 13, hundreds joined us at the Palace Theatre to celebrate all that we accomplished together in 2010. It was a tough year that tested many of our agencies that provide basic needs assistance – but donors saw the increased need around them and responded by pledging.
SPIRIT OF CARING AWARDS
United Way’s Spirit of Caring Awards are given annually to companies and organizations that went above and beyond in their support of the community.
Margie Johnson, pictured with last year's winner, Chris Chiesa.
We are proud to announce the winner of United Way’s highest individual honor! Though it was her first year as a coordinator, Margie led one of our largest campaigns.
She’s known for:
This award is given to the person who ran the very best charitable-giving campaign in Onondaga County – chosen from among more than 600 Employee Campaign Coordinators.
Margie Johnson organized the entire campaign for one of Syracuse’s largest employers in only a few weeks. Her attention to detail organization and leadership were key to this campaign’s success.
Her campaign included all the components of a great campaign – campaign meetings with agency speakers, participation in United Way events, the inclusion of everyone at every level of the organization and special events that raised more than 10% of the campaign’s total
We hope you will join us in congratulating Margie Johnson for this honor!
