Organized Labor Participation
Winner: UAW Local 624/2149
Given to labor organizations that show civic leadership, participate in volunteer activities, and support the United Way campaign.
Despite facing the plant’s closure in 2011, the Brothers and Sisters of UAW Local 624 / 2149 ran what may be the very last United Way campaign at Magna Powertrain/New Process Gear – and had outstanding results.

Recognizes organizations that are especially generous with gifts of material goods and/or services.
Sysco Syracuse makes many food donations to local nonprofits and donates services to help soup kitchens increase their kitchen safety and efficiency.

Recognizes the importance of volunteering in the community.
Upstate Medical University implemented a volunteer initiative, Team Upstate, to promote volunteerism within the organization, encouraging staff and students to embrace volunteer service.

Recognizes the importance in inspiring people to give according to their means, recognizing companies that strive to encourage Leadership Giving (gifts of $1,000 and more per year).
