• Given to labor organizations that show civic leadership, participate in volunteer activities, and support the United Way campaign.
• Despite facing budget uncertainty, members of NYSUT once again gave generously, achieving a perfect 100 percent participation in giving.

• Recognizes organizations that are especially generous with gifts of material goods and/or services.
• When building renovations left Carrier with surplus restaurant equipment, the equipment was donated to local nonprofits, including the Samaritan Center.

Volunteer Service Award
Winner: Welch Allyn, Inc.

• Recognizes the importance of volunteering in the community.
• In July 2010, Welch Allyn's incredible Beaconfest Show of Hands event closed down the company's headquarters for a day, putting nearly 400 Welch Allyn employees to work at 23 different nonprofits, including The Samaritan Center and The Salvation Army.

Winner: Upstate Medical University

• Recognizes the importance in inspiring people to give according to their means, recognizing companies that strive to encourage Leadership Giving (gifts of $1,000 and more per year).
• Upstate's Leadership campaign is a model for other organizations. The senior management is supportive, the campaign coordinators emphasize the importance of Leadership giving with personal appeals, and Upstate honors each donor within the organization.

• Recognizes companies with 100 or fewer employees that run great United Way campaigns.
• Selflock achieves extraordinary results by running its United Way campaign with a personalized touch. Once again in 2010, the company managed to increase its campaign proceeds and achieved an incredible 100 percent participation in giving from its employees.
