Volunteer

Call it corporate social responsibility, corporate engagement or corporate citizenship…we just call it the right thing to do.  Corporate volunteerism is not just good PR; it also increases employee morale, serves as a great team-building tool, and positively impacts the community in which your employees live, work and play.  Get your company involved in the community through an employee volunteer program, days of caring, the Corporate Volunteer Council or all of the above.

  TIPS FOR VOLUNTEERING

Starting an Employee Volunteer Program
The United Way of Central New York Volunteer Center can help your company get its employee volunteer program off the ground, whether you need help getting management support, providing employees with volunteer opportunities, recording hours, or recognizing your volunteers.  We can provide you with handy resources through our affiliation with the Points of Light Institute and help you figure out a program that works best for your organization.

Days of Caring
If you want to coordinate a large-scale volunteer day with your organization’s employees, give us a call.  We’ll walk you through the process beginning to end, from choosing a project and coordinating volunteers to evaluating the end result.  Our only request?  Give us a call early on and allow 60-90 days of advance planning.

Corporate Volunteer Council
If you want to continue developing your Employee Volunteer Program and help your company stay actively engaged in the community, consider joining the Corporate Volunteer Council (CVC).  The CVC is a coalition of businesses, organizations and associations that recognize the importance of volunteerism in our community.  The CVC functions as a partner of United Way of Central New York, operating independently but receiving support from United Way.  The CVC can provide professional guidance, development, support and networking opportunities for members while addressing community needs through employee volunteer efforts.  CVC is your company’s connection to the community!
