Barnes & Noble Book Fair
On Friday, August 8, 2008 Success By 6
will join with Barnes & Noble Booksellers in DeWitt
for a book fair. To kickoff the book fair, Spot, the
loveable dog from the children’s book series, will
be hosting story time from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.
- 7 p.m., in the children’s book section of the
Barnes & Noble
store located at 3454 Erie Blvd. East in DeWitt.
Customers must submit a Barnes & Noble/SB6 voucher from August 8 through August 14th in order for a percentage
of their purchases to be donated to the SB6 book fair.
Customers can also mention the Success By 6 book fair
to the cashier when making their purchases if they do
not have a voucher but still want to benefit Success
By 6. The book fair will take place solely at the Barnes & Noble
DeWitt location during the designated time frame.

“Bring on the Books!” Book Drive
March
2008
Each year, Success By 6 partners with
local businesses to collect donations of new and gently
used books and distributes them to more than 145 local
childcare centers and Head Start and Pre-K programs. During
the past 10 years, the Book Drive has collected more than
150,000 books! |

BookFest
October 2007
Success By 6’s Children’s BookFest is held to
encourage families to embrace reading with their children.
The event is held annually at a local elementary school and
features a wide variety of arts, crafts and entertainment,
such as musical groups and storytellers, as well as book
signings and readings by children’s book authors. |

Success By 6 Policy Breakfast
December 2007
Success By 6’s annual Policy Breakfast
spotlights local concerns regarding education and childcare.
The 2007 keynote speaker was Meredith Wiley, the state
director of the national anti-crime organization Fight
Crime: Invest in Kids. Ms. Wiley spoke about how investments
in early childhood education can help prevent kids from
becoming criminals later in life.

Christmas Bureau
December 2007
Each year, Christmas Bureau collects and purchases Christmas
gifts to distribute to more than 5,000 needy families in
Onondaga County. The effort is a collaboration by many community
partners led by The Salvation Army and United Way of Central
New York. |
