Students roll up their sleeves for Rescue Mission

The Rescue Mission in downtown Syracuse—a United Way funded agency—is a  hub of daily activity, providing day and overnight shelter, meals, transportation, clothing, guidance, and much more to hundreds of clients.

On August 26, the Whitman School of Management’s newest MBA students rolled up their sleeves and immersed themselves in a day of community service, assisting the Rescue Mission by organizing donations received, preparing and serving food, and moving furniture into the shelter.

By encouraging community service from the very beginning, the Whitman School MBA program hopes to foster in the students a sense of responsibility and compassion for their community that will carry over into their professional careers. The United Way of Central New York also exemplifies responsibility and compassion for the community by its funding of the Rescue Mission, 28 other local agencies, and 102 local programs.  Your support of the United Way helps our community reach its full caring potential.  Live united, give united through the 2009 Syracuse University United Way campaign.
